Hilltop Hideaway

The owners of this spacious country house in Knowlton, Que., hired Romina to renovate and redecorate it to create fresh, inviting spaces that encourage togetherness, pay homage to the picturesque views and offer a peaceful retreat from city life. Romina’s redesign marries the home’s traditional style — original wood floors, doors and trim, and a bold river rock fireplace — with fresh hues, furniture arrangements built around favourite antiques, and thoroughly renovated bathrooms and kitchen. In the new all-white kitchen, marble and brass introduce a hint of glamour. Decked in sea green panelling and slate floors, the handsome mudroom makes room for loads of outerwear and tools. A demure powder room is a nod to home’s colonial architecture. And in the spa-like principal bathroom, Romina contrasted stretches of marble, glass and cabinetry with heirloom collectibles.
